Ferns in the landscape

Did you know that most people who plant a garden use some type of fern to make their landscaping even more gorgeous? What is a fern? A fern is a green plant that may come with many different colors as accents and do not flower, fruit, or seed. So why do people plant them?

Most people place ferns in their garden because they add some green to the garden and they don't produce any berries that could potentially be harmful for some of the local animals or near by children. They do require some work, but they add some great color to your landscaping. Ferns happen to be one of the earliest plants on the earth and they make get additions to flowerbeds. They will reproduce by spores and they will make any corner of the home look beautiful.

The great thing about using ferns in your landscaping is that they do not require a lot of sunlight so you can brighten up and make an unattractive dark spot look beautiful. If you tend to have a lot of trees in your yard, you can use the ferns as a greenery to make a circular ground around a tree.

This is just one way that you can use ferns in your landscaping plans, but if you know of a moist and sheltered area, there are plenty of flowers and ferns that will make the spot look better.

All that a fern needs to grow is moisture in the soil, suitable temperatures, and just enough light for photosynthesis. You will want to keep your fern garden in an area that is close to the home or under a tree because it will have a good amount of moisture. As for the temperature, you can purchase a fern that will grow practically anywhere. You don't want them to be in direct sunlight. What you want for your fern is for them to be able to get sunlight a few hours of the day, but is sheltered a little from the sunlight.

Usually, people will use the ferns in areas that are hidden from the sun most of the day. They will place ferns, some other flowers that do not like direct sunlight in a flowerbed to give the area some comfort, and to make a dark spot of the yard look lively. Perfect for the backyard near the house.
