Trees in the landscape


Pruning can be a difficult art to learn. You have to be careful about pruning because you don't want to hurt the tree, but you will want to learn how to control your trees. You need to know the basics of a tree and how to make the first cut. Practically any landscaping tree or shrub can tolerate a pruning every now and then. Some need it more than others, but you will know when to prune your tree because will be begin to look out of shape or control. You want to prune your tree, but with the intentions of preserving the tree's health and natural inclinations.

Why do you need to prune your trees? Well, pruning is part of the upkeep for your landscape. It's like cutting the grass. You need to control your plant, but you also need to promote growth and health. You will want to remove all the dead limbs and diseased wood in hopes of caring and saving the tree.

You will also want to prune the tree to save other things gutters or windows. When it comes to pruning your tree out of discipline, you should see if your tree could take such harshness. Remember, if you cut too much you may end up killing the plant. You may also want to prune because your tree has gotten out of shape. This is common with smaller trees.

Some people find that once they begin to prune, they can't strop. Well you should know that there are ways to stop. First, don't make big cuts or you will make a lot more trying to straighten it out. Start off small. However, when you use your pruning shears, make sure that they are clean or you may spread disease.

If you do need to take out a limb, you will want to make sure that you don't hurt the tree so make three cuts. Make one cut about six inches from the bark. Then make your second cut an inch above the first one. Once you have the big piece taken off, you can then make your third and final cut to the branch collar. When you do this you will have no fear of seriously damaging the tree. If you don't, you may end up taking out the entire tree.
